Microsoft released security bulletin notice in May
Microsoft today released notice, will release two security bulletins on next week’s Patch Tuesday, one of which was rated “critical”, mainly impacts the Windows, the other one was “important” and affects Office products, the following platforms or products need to get updates next week: Windows Server 2003, Server 2008, Office XP, Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2004 for Mac / Office 2008.
This severe patch fixed the security vulnerabilities in the Windows Server software, such as Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, and other three Microsoft’s server operating systems which are still provided technical support.
Microsoft said the other security patch is for Office XP, Office 2003 and Office 2007. Microsoft particularly pointed out that PowerPoint is the Office program to use this patch. Microsoft will also release patches to fix the software security vulnerabilities of Office 2004 for Mac and Office 2008 for Mac.
Next week the PowerPoint patch for the Office XP will be the last one of the patches. This 10-year-long software packages will not receive security updates after the July 12.
The latest Office 2010 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac will not be affected from the PowerPoint security vulnerability.
